Nationals - Mixed Pairs

Sunday 12th was the day when two Mixed Pairs from Donyngs took on two Wey Valley Pairs. Elaine Fawcett and Ted Ray at Home, and Fi Drinkall with Wayne Thornton.

Elaine and Ted got off to a good start picking up a 5 on the third end. Elaine was leading extremly well and Ted was covering the back and dropping the odd one near!! A comfortable scre was seeing them through the early and middle stages. However their opponents turned up the gas and began pegging them back until they tool the lesd. Unfortunately Elaine and Ted could not respond and lost the match.

Fi and Wayne similarly got going quickly and Fi's drawing strength showed, backed up by Waynes skipping. Their opponents were not to give in and fought back admirably. By the 17th end it was close. Sadly it was not to be and their opponents were successful.
