The Egham Trophy Result

A Close Encounter enjoyed by a good crowd of supporters for both Clubs.

A Donyngs Mixed Team played Wey Valley on Sunday 19th October in The Egham Trophy, the National Mixed Inter-Club Knockout Competition. The format is 4 rinks of 2 Ladies and 2 Men, 2 rinks playing at Home and 2 Away.

Steve Whitings rink got a shock on the 2nd end, dropping a 5, were elated 2 later when picking up a 4. From then on they dominated and kept the shots conceededtight wth only one 2 and seven singles to win comfortably 25 - 14. All four members had apart in this victory.

Meanwhile Paul Dixons rink were in a ding-dong contest against a strong WV four, with the skip giving strong support and recovery to his players. Winninng 11 ends to 10, two 4s scored on ends 18 and 19 this rink won 19 - 16.

Away Dave Halls rink was also bib and tuck with mostly low scoring on each end. WV put their foot on the gas over the last 4 ends to seal their rink win.

Ian Mellis's rink were behind most of the game but held a slim chance of an extra end until the opposition skip took out Donyngs shot bowl to seal an overall win for WV 74 - 71.
