Donyngs at Borough of Croydon Bowling Association 90th Anniversary tournament

Sunday 13th July saw a team of 5 representing Donyngs take on 9 other teams at CMO's ground in Croydon. The event was held to celebrate the Borough of Croydon's Bowling Association's 90th anniversary 1935-1925. It was a long hot, hot day on the green where each member had to play in 3 of 5 disciplines being, Rinks x 2, Pairs, Triples, 2 & 4 wood singles. Your reporter is delighted to advise Donyngs came runners up losing by just 2 points to the home side from CMO. The prize money of £100 was donated to the club's charity of the year St Catherine's after deducting expenses.                                   The tournament was faultlessly organised by Andrew Aldam (President) and Ruth Smith (V.President) both of course Donyngs members , indeed Ruth will be 2025/26 Ladies Captain – Well done to you both for your excellent organising skills.                                                                                                                   Team members seen above gelled extremely well coming from 5 different outdoor clubs & never having played together before:                                                                                                                                    Lynn Jones (Banstead Neville) Jule Colby (Chipstead) Sandra Humpries (Caterham) Alastair MacLennan (Epsom) Elaine Fawcett (Horley - Sorry I took my shirt off)
