Donyngs has a growing Junior Section (of 8 - 18 year olds) where youngsters can learn the basics of how to bowl, and then improve their skills and play games. They meet every Saturday morning from 8.00 - 10.00am. The cost is £1.50 per session for non-members and £1.00 for members. The sessions are taken by qualified coaches, all of whom have received DBS clearance.
For Juniors who want to further develop their bowling skills, we provide the opportunity for them to play friendly matches against other clubs. In addition, the best players are invited to represent Donyngs in the National Under 25s competition.
Junior Singles and Generation Pairs
We have club competitions ~ Junior Singles and Generation Pairs (where an under 18 bowler plays with a parent or grandparent, or another adult). The finals of these competitions takes place on Club Finals Days.
When Juniors have reached a reasonable standard, they are positively encouraged to play alongside adults in the Club’s league programme and in matches. The club subsidises the green fees in matches, so juniors only pay the cost of the meal.
Every year selected youngsters enter the English Bowls Youth Development Scheme's 'National Scholl of Excellence'. This is a day of competitive bowling for skills and single play. There are 2 age groups Under 15 and 15-18. The first round is played at County level.
£10.00 for the whole season
As you can see from all the above activities, there are plenty of opportunities for any junior at Donyngs to reach their potential and to be equipped to play the game at the highest level. For all this, membership costs only £10.00 for the whole season.
Donyngs Indoor Bowls Club has a Child Protection Officer.
