Competitions

The Club encourages all members to take part in as many competitions as possible. Not only does this introduce the notion of competitive play, it adds a new dimension to the bowling experience and it is a way to improve playing skills and standards.

Internal Competitions

A range of competitions are planned to ensure that novices as well as experienced bowlers have a chance to appear in a final. These competitions are managed by the Club Competition Secretary whose decision in all matters is final.

The majority of competitions operate on a knock out basis throughout the season culminating with the finalists playing each other during "Finals Weekend" in mid-April each year.

If entering internal competitions you must be available to play on the "Finals Weekend". The rules in respect of each type of competition are included in the information booklet held at the Club, also on the "Members pages" on the website

External Competitions

Club members are encouraged to take part in external competitions. Members take part in National, Surrey County and London & Southern Counties competitions (ladies and men) in the various formats of the game. These events are of a good standard and will enhance the skills of anyone participating in them.

National Competitions

Members are eligible to enter national competitions, which are managed by the EIBA (English Indoor Bowls Association). If successful in the early rounds they will then play the final stages at a national finals venue.

County Competitions

The format for county competitions is very similar to the National Competitions except that the organisation is managed by Surrey County Indoor Bowls Association, and Surrey County Women's Indoor Bowling Association. The finals are held at venues within the county of Surrey.

Matches

Inter club matches are played on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday afternoons. Matches normally start at 2.00pm and are followed by refreshments in the club. Formal proceedings end around 7.00 p.m.

We have Men's / Ladies / Mixed matches.

External Leagues

The Club currently plays in three inter-club Leagues; Surrey Men's IBA (Internal Bowls Association), South East Ladies League, and the East Surrey Mixed League.

The club also enters National knock out competitions.

Selection

Everyone is encouraged to indicate their availability for selection by putting their name on the list on the notice boards. The selected teams are posted on the notice boards.
